Bebel Gilberto Remixed

Bebel Gilberto Remixed

… under this motto I present you my music tip for the weekend.
Maybe one or the other discovers something new.

Consciously listening to music is, in my opinion, as important as reading a good book.

Bebel Gilberto [beˈbɛl ʒilˈbɛrtu] (born May 12, 1966, New York; born Isabel Gilberto de Oliveira) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter. She is the daughter of João Gilberto and Miúcha (Heloísa Buarque de Hollanda, Chico Buarque’s sister), two greats in the Brazilian music scene

Bebel Gilberto began singing as a child in choirs and on records for children, also appearing in musicals.

During the 1980s she tried a solo career, collaborating mainly with Cazuza, but also with other stars of Música Popular Brasileira. In 1991 she moved to New York, where she collaborated with David Byrne, Arto Lindsay and DJ Towa Tei, seeking to fuse her bossa nova with other musical styles to create new sounds. In 2000, together with DJ and producer Suba, she released her CD Tanto Tempo, which made it to the world music charts. In 2001, to build on the success of her debut CD, the record Tanto Tempo Remixes was released. In 2004 followed the album Bebel Gilberto, produced by Marius de Vries, and in 2005 its remixes, with the participation of Thievery Corporation, DJ Spinna or Nuspirit Helsinki, among others.

Her songs Samba da Benção, Tanto Tempo and Mais Feliz were parts of the soundtrack of the film Hautnah.
