WHICH INSTRUMENTS PLAY IN THE "ORCHESTER DER KULTUREN"?

FAQ

We are the first orchestra in the world to combine instruments from very different cultures and musical styles. Our rhythm section is structured like a band.

Except we don't use electronic instruments. So our audience knows that everything is handmade with us. It is also easier to recognize the individual instruments.

In contrast to a band, we do not use drums (drum set), but have 3 percussionists who form the common drum kit with their respective instruments (mainly cajon, darbuka and bongos).

WHEN WAS THE "ORCHESTER DER KULTUREN" FOUNDED ?

In 2009 our musical director Adrian Werum began to look for the first musicians.

The first musicians included Andreas & Markus Kerber, with whom a small video was also shot.

Then there was a first casting in the youth center in Stuttgart. The jury included Gotthilf Fischer, Klaus Wagenleiter (SWR Big Band) and Lilo Scrimali (Musical DSDS & Die Fantastischen Vier)

The first concert took place on March 26, 2010 in the Kulturhaus Arena, the old theater in Stuttgart.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE CONCERT?

There is no dress code at our concerts.

Everyone can come as he/she/it wants.

Our orchestra is dressed just as colorful and diverse as the cultures in our orchestra.

But we're pleased when you can see from the outside that our audience really appreciates this evening.

CAN YOU JOIN THE ORCHESTRA OF CULTURES?

We mostly find our musicians through recommendations and sometimes also through small, informal auditions that serve to get to know each other better.

If you think that you can enrich our orchestra with new sounds or simply with a great instrument, then simply send us an informal email with your CV and sound or video examples.

WHERE CAN YOU GET TICKETS?

Depending on our venues, there are different advance booking systems.

In any case, we always have current links to the respective advance booking offices on our website on the home page and in the Concerts menu.

CAN YOU BRING CHILDREN TO THE CONCERT?

In our experience, our concert program is well suited for children from school age, very well from about 10 years.

Since the individual pieces are a maximum of 10 minutes long and there is a lot of variety on stage during this time, the children are usually very enthusiastic and want to get to know the many new instruments better afterwards.

This is especially true for smaller children. However, we also offer special children's and family programmes, which we then mark in the programme.

The child discount depends on the respective venue.
